No Shopify login

Scan public storefront pages without asking for admin access.

Private by design

No passwords, cookies, form values, checkout data, or cart data are intended to be read.

Fast first read

Open the popup to inspect visible apps, theme clues, script weight, and timing signals.

Built by Shopify developers

Use the scan as a practical starting point for app audits and rebuild planning.

Use cases

Know what a Shopify store exposes before you make a build decision.

StackLens gives merchants, developers, and agency teams a quick storefront read before spending time on a full technical audit.

Competitor research

See which visible tools, scripts, theme signals, and public products a Shopify storefront exposes.

App cost audit

Find app categories that may be slowing the store or creating subscription bloat.

Rebuild planning

Collect public signals before replacing apps with theme code, custom sections, or private apps.

Performance triage

Use timing and third-party script clues to decide what deserves a deeper Lighthouse or code audit.

What it finds

Fast signals for app stack, theme, and performance research.

Add to Chrome

Theme signal

Classifies the visible theme as free, paid, custom, or unknown where public clues allow it.

Visible apps

Groups detected storefront apps by category with confidence labels.

App changes

Shows new or removed apps compared with the previous local scan of the same store.

Speed clues

Surfaces quick browser timing, script count, JavaScript weight, and long-task clues where available.

Script detail

Opens a third-party JavaScript view so noisy vendors are easier to spot.

Best sellers

Checks the store public best-selling products feed when the storefront allows it.

How it works

Three steps from storefront visit to action plan.

01

Open a public Shopify storefront

Visit the homepage, product page, or collection page you want to inspect.

02

Let StackLens read public signals

The extension checks Shopify clues, DOM markers, scripts, metadata, and browser timing data.

03

Review the popup report

Use the result to decide whether the store needs app cleanup, performance work, or custom development.

Result meaning

Theme signals are helpful, but they are still best-effort.

Free themeThe theme name matches a known free Shopify theme.

Paid themeA theme store id is visible, so the result is a best-effort paid-theme signal.

Custom themeNo theme store id was visible, which often means custom or heavily modified work.

Unknown themeTheme data was unavailable or hidden from public storefront signals.

Confidence labels

App detection labels keep weak evidence visible.

DetectedStrong public signal such as rendered DOM or DOM plus script evidence.

RunningApp code appears initialized on the current page.

PossibleWeak signal that needs human review before decisions are made.

Seen activePreviously confirmed locally, but not strongly visible in the latest scan.

No resultNot visible from public storefront signals. This is not proof that the store does not use the app.

After the scan

Turn the report into a cleaner Shopify build.

If the scan exposes too many scripts, overlapping app categories, or slow storefront clues, GR Trading can review the stack and plan what to keep, replace, or custom-build.

Privacy and permissions

Designed for public storefront inspection, not admin access.

Page access

Shopify stores can run on any custom domain, so automatic detection needs permission to run on ordinary web pages.

Local first

On pages that do not look like Shopify, the extension runs a quick local check and stops.

Events

Install, popup open, Rescan, and CTA click events may be sent with limited diagnostic fields.

Store data

A Rescan may send detected app names, categories, status, confidence, and best-effort plan inference for internal reports.

Important limits

Visible signals are not the same as private proof.

StackLens can miss apps that run server-side, only appear in checkout, load after login, hide scripts, or run on pages the scanner has not inspected.

Speed indicators are quick diagnostics based on browser timing and resource data. They are useful triage clues, not a full Lighthouse audit.

Best-seller data depends on whether the store's public products feed is available, enabled, and non-empty.

Questions

Answers before you install.

Can it prove every Shopify app a store uses?

No. Server-side apps, checkout-only apps, login-only tools, hidden scripts, and apps on other pages may not be visible.

Does it replace a full performance audit?

No. It gives fast storefront clues. Use it to decide what deserves a deeper Lighthouse, theme-code, or app-stack audit.

Does it write to the Shopify store?

No. It inspects public storefront signals and does not write to the viewed Shopify store.

Why are some recommendations shown?

Recommendations are based on visible categories and common ecommerce app needs. They are not proof that a merchant needs a specific app.
